Maritime Museum of San Diego Shares Haunted Star Tales With Visitors

Ghost and paranormal stories found aboard World’s Oldest Sailing Ship Star of India

San Diego, CA – The Maritime Museum of San Diego’s mission is to serve as the community memory of our seafaring experiences by collecting, preserving, and presenting our rich maritime heritage and historic connections with the Pacific world. The Star of India, the world’s oldest active sailing ship and a popular visitor attraction in San Diego and centerpiece vessel of the fleet at the Maritime Museum of San Diego, has a fascinating history of ghosts and paranormal activity. This October, visitors looking for unusual spooky experiences, are invited to wander Star’s decks and discover the haunted tales tied to her rich maritime history. The experience is included with general admission.

With souls lost and sightings documented, the Maritime Museum of San Diego has embraced the Halloween spirit and prominently displayed an assortment of haunted Star tales aboard her main and below deck galleries. Accounts include reported strange occurrences believed to be tied to crew members of the past aboard the world’s oldest active sailing ship and iconic waterfront landmark.

The Maritime Museum of San Diego is open daily at Star of India wharf located at 1492 N. Harbor Drive between Grape and Ash Street.
