San Salvador Sailing Adventure
 

San Salvador Sailing Adventure

The San Salvador is a replica of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo’s ship that arrived at the port we now call San Diego on September 28, 1542.

These 4 hour Sailing Adventures are for people who love history, and sailing. Very few people have sailed aboard Galleons of the sixteenth century and these day sails will offer the public a chance to be aboard the magnificent galleon, the San Salvador.

A 4 hour sail Saturday’s, 11:30 to 4:00pm Tickets range, $99.00 to $49.00

Tall Ship Adventure aboard Californian*

Tall Ship Adventure Sail is a three-hour adventure history sail aboard the schooner Californian.

Join the crew in sailing a traditionally rigged tall ship. Passengers will be invited to haul a line, man the helm and end their day with a cannon salute.

Most Sundays, 11:30 to 3:00pm Tickets range, $60.00 to $44.00

Swift Boat Tour Tickets

Take a high-speed Naval History Tour
aboard a legendary Swift Boat

75 minute narrated tour aboard Swift Boat PCF816.

Feel the history & power of the twin 12 cylinder Detroit Diesels as you take a behind the scenes tour of San Diego Bays military history. Tour route heads under Coronado Bay Bridge, Naval Base San Diego, and then Naval Amphibious Base. It then heads back by the aircraft carrier basin and Naval Air Station North Island before returning to the Museum.

Enjoy this unique one of a kind adventure. Two tours daily: Saturday & Sunday.

Fathers Day Sail Aboard aboard San Salvador

Father’s Day Sail*

Make Father’s Day a special one-of-a-kind adventure!

The Maritime Museum of San Diego invites you to a Fathers Day celebration aboard Californian or San Salvador.

Before the sail each adult receives a delicious bratwurst sandwich, chips and a cold beer prior to sailing. Hot dogs and soft drinks are available for the kids.

Food will be served from 10am-11:30am and the 3 hour sailing trip will begin boarding at 11:30 and returns approximately at 3:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to enjoy the museum before and after the sail.

Ticket Range: $70 – $48

The observation deck of the museum’s historic 1898 steam ferry Berkeley provides a spectacular view of the fireworks show over San Diego Bay and is reserved for guests participating in our delicious catered picnic dinner. Choose from two dinner seatings 5pm-6:30pm & 7pm to 8:30pm Ship doesn’t leave dock.

Tickets range from $35.00 to $18.00

For those looking for a more exhilarating experience, the museum is offering a fireworks cruise aboard the schooner Californian. Watch the fireworks from one of the best vantage points while enjoying a magnificent evening on the water. Check-in by 6pm

Tickets are $85.00 each

  • Dinner is $35 for adults and $18 for children 3-12
  • Two seatings to choose from, first seating 5pm-6:30pm second seating 7pm to 8:30pm
  • Independence Day Picnic Dinner aboard the Berkeley features, BBQ chicken, burgers, coleslaw, potato salad, corn on the cob, ice cold watermelon & double fudge brownies for dessert!

Every year we launch Festival of Sail with a Parade. Sail from the mouth of San Diego Bay, past Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Downtown, and back to the Maritime Museum.

The Parade of Sail is visible from Shelter Island, Harbor Island, and Embarcadero. Parade ships, times, and route info is available at the link below. What’s even better than watching the Parade? Being in the Parade! Tickets to sail aboard select Parade ships are available below.

Join the Tall Ship crews and revel in the experience of tall ship sailing while we engage opposing ships in a mock Cannon battle on the bay. Two ships leave but only one comes back victorious. Enjoy some adventure, 1800’s style!

Enjoy the opportunity to take a special Festival of Sail 2 hour Mid-day Sail aboard a classic sailboat.

Sailing during some of the best wind of the day, the Mid-day sails always generate a fair amount of oohs and ahhs. Enjoy being on a truly classic yacht, speedsters of a time gone by.

Check-in ends at 1:30pm for a 2 hour sail. A portion of the afternoon Tall Ship cannon battles is viewable by the Mid-Day Sail.

Swift Boat Cruise – Festival of Sail

A special Festival of Sail 30 minute high-speed cruise that highlights San Diego Bays Military History aboard PCF 816 Patrol Craft Fast – Swift Boat.

The Swift Boat Sailors Association brought this Swift Boat to the Maritime Museum of San Diego to be restored and operated on San Diego Bay. Museum visitors now have the opportunity to experience the sound and feel of the two V12 Supercharged Detroit diesels delivering 980 horsepower while touring on the bay.

Pilot Bay Cruise Festival of Sail Tickets

Bay Cruises aboard Pilot – Festival of Sail

Take a special Festival of Sail 30 minute Historic Bay Cruise aboard Pilot, our 1914 pilot boat.

Pilot is the oldest active pilot boat in the country. She is a San Diego original, built in 1914 close to her present location and having spent her entire career working on San Diego Bay, but she is far from retired! Bay cruises, floating classroom, private events, and still used by bay pilots for special occasions, Pilot could very well be the most active boat ever made!
