Job Description:
The Marketing Coordinator supports the Director of Marketing, Public Relations and Business Development on a strategic mission to boost brand awareness and increase sales. The MMSD Marketing Department is the internal marketing resource for cost effective creation and distribution of integrated marketing and advertising campaigns that deliver results, with heavy emphasis on driving general admission sales. The Marketing Coordinator is on-site daily at the Museum to support the Director of Marketing in the execution of all integrated media, marketing, public relations, travel trade sales alliance partnership programs and visitor promotions. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with the public and collaborating in a cross-functional team environment.
The Marketing Coordinator works on projects requested by all Museum department leaders including but not limited to Membership, Development, Ship Operations, Exhibits, Education, Events, Group Tours, and Volunteer recruitment. The Marketing Coordinator manages multiple projects, collaborating closely with vendors and suppliers to meet deadlines and oversees print production processes. The coordinator orders marketing materials and ensures proper exterior and interior displays are replenished. Daily tasks include production of and/or updates or design of new ads, marketing tactics (brochures, rack cards, posters, banners), and any other content needed for delivery to media as well as to industry/partner websites. The Marketing Coordinator aligns with the Director of Marketing on content creation shared on social media channels, while managing admin duties and posts for MMSD brand social sites.
The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for ordering new signage, making on-site daily signage placement checks and ensuring collateral promoting bay tours, sailing adventures, exhibits, membership, private event venues, education, and public events are in clear view. The Marketing Coordinator also regularly drafts and deploys digital communications to target audiences.
Public, media, and community relations are managed by the MMSD Marketing Department. The Marketing Coordinator duties include assistance with on-site live location or special media production projects in coordination with media which may require assistance from time to time. The Marketing Coordinator will compile display needs and occasionally manage a booth presence for community events, and public events hosted by the Museum.
Required Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, social media and digital marketing, copywriting skills. BA in Communications or Marketing preferred. Candidate should be proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Mail Chimp platform, Google Ad Words and Ad Grant programs. Experience using CRM, and Office 365 suite desired. Museums, tourism, travel, retail, consumer marketing experience preferred.
Compensation: $26/hour, 40 hours per week plus full-time benefits including health insurance are provided. The Museum also offers a 401k match after one year of service.
