Maritime Museum of San Diego Expands Access Through Museums for All Program

(SAN DIEGO, CA) – The Maritime Museum of San Diego, a 501(c)(3) non-profit waterfront destination known for its world-class collection of historic vessels, including the Star of India, the world’s oldest active sailing ship, proudly participates in Museums for All, a national access program by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and administered by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM).

Museums for All encourages people of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and develop lifelong museum-going habits. The program provides reduced general admission for individuals receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

Starting January 1, 2025, eligible visitors may receive $5 general admission for up to four people by presenting a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card and a valid photo ID at the museum’s ticket booth. There are no limits on the number of visits.

This initiative is part of the Maritime Museum of San Diego’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that all communities have access to maritime history and cultural enrichment. The program is available at more than 850 museums across the U.S., including art museums, science centers, botanical gardens, zoos, and history museums.

Show your EBT card and photo ID at the Ticket Booth 3. Receive general admission for $5, for up to four individuals! 4. Come back any time! There’s no limit to how often you can visit through Museums for All.
