Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity is a way to make a meaningful gift to the Maritime Museum of San Diego while receiving a secure source of fixed payments for life. This type of gift allows you to support the Museum’s mission while also providing income to you or another annuitant you designate.

How a charitable gift annuity works

  1. You transfer cash or property to the Maritime Museum of San Diego. Gift annuities for the Museum are administered and managed through the San Diego Foundation.
  2. In exchange, you receive fixed payments for life. Payment amounts are based on your age, and a portion of each payment may be tax-free.
  3. You receive a charitable income tax deduction for the gift portion of the annuity.

If you choose to fund your charitable gift annuity with cash, a significant portion of each payment may be tax-free. You may also fund a gift annuity with appreciated securities, which can allow you to avoid a portion of the capital gains tax.

The Maritime Museum Association of San Diego is an exempt organization as described in sections 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, Federal ID# 95-2130325.
