San Salvador, under the command of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, arrived at the port we now call San Diego on September 28, 1542. Californian was built from the ground up in San Diego. She is a replica of the 1847 Revenue Cutter C.W. Lawrence, which patrolled the coast of California enforcing federal law during the gold rush. Both ships are part of the more-than-ten historic vessel fleet with on-board exhibits and galleries that Maritime Museum of San Diego visitors explore with just one admission ticket.
